Level: 6th grade

Length: Semester

Description: The 6th grade physical education is designed to introduce students to a variety of games, which promote hand-eye coordination, balance, agility, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Emphasis is on beginner-level rules, regulations, and participation. The students also begin to understand the importance and benefits of being physically active. Units include understanding ethics, defining values, communication skills, and acceptance. The students have the opportunity to communicate their perspectives on each of these topics and are challenged through physical activities to apply the principles discussed.

Level: 7th grade

Length: Semester

Description: The 7th grade physical education includes team sports, with an emphasis on beginner to intermediate-level rules, regulations, and participation in a variety of sports. The program introduces many skill- developing sports, including, but not limited to flag football, volleyball, basketball, swimming, soccer, softball/baseball, and lacrosse. Lastly, this class will focus on leadership and life skills, which will be presented and reinforced through games, movement, and class discussions.

Level: 8th grade

Length: Semester

Description: The 8th grade physical education is centered around sports such as frisbee, disc golf, tennis, ping pong, and track/field. Students in this course will also partake in team sports and games. The course helps students understand the necessity of cardiovascular endurance, including participating in fitness activities. In addition, this course will focus on a variety of teen life issues. This course also includes CPR/First Aid training.

Level: 8th grade

Length: Semester

Description: Introduction to Sports Performance is designed for competitive athletes who are interested in working towards future Varsity sports and potentially collegiate athletics. Students in this course participate in sport-specific strength training that includes weight training, plyometric training, and anaerobic and aerobic cardiovascular development to enhance their physical sports performance in competition and to decrease their risk of injury. In addition, this course will focus on a variety of teen life issues. This course also includes CPR/First Aid training. Students are expected to currently be a part of a Middle School team.
