Recently, 38 fine arts students joined over 10,000 theatre students, teachers, and enthusiasts at the State Thespian Festival in Tampa Bay. As a troupe, ESJ presented two small duet acting scenes, one large group musical, two solo musical acts, and a submission for costume design. Each of the performance categories earned a top score of Superior. In addition to performing, students attended full length musicals and one-act plays, and participated in a wide array of acting, dance, and technical masterclasses taught by esteemed theater professionals.“It’s always a profound experience for these students to share their talents, support each other, and learn from working artists. It also reinforces that the work they are doing at school competitively measures up with their peers throughout the state,” said Jono Hustis, Director of Upper School Theatre.
