Seventh grade students recently traveled to the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge for their annual field trip, spending the day immersed in one of the most unique ecosystems in the southeastern United States. Okefenokee Swamp is soon to be a World Heritage Site, and provided an exceptional outdoor classroom where students observed wildlife, studied swamp ecology, and explored the region’s natural history. The trip offered a meaningful opportunity for students to connect with each other and the natural world. Following the trip, they submitted a nature journal that was a culmination of everything they learned during the day.
