Second Grade Bike Rodeo Promotes Bicycle Safety and Riding Skills

Second grade students enjoyed the much-anticipated Bike Rodeo last week. The morning kicked off with Tucker Cycles conducting thorough safety checks on each student’s bike to ensure they were road-ready. Students then participated in a safety session led by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) Bike Squad and Jackie Morrison, a health educator from Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Jackie provided valuable tips on helmet safety and performed individual helmet fit checks to ensure every student was protected.

Following the safety briefing, students rotated through various obstacle courses designed to build real-world cycling skills. They practiced hand signaling, stopping at intersections, weaving around obstacles, and safely coming to a complete stop—essential techniques for safe bike riding.

To cap off the event, each student received a personalized bike license, proudly presented by second grade teachers and JSO officers.

A big thank you to Tucker Cycles, the JSO Bike Squad, Wolfson Children’s Hospital, and the many dedicated parent volunteers who helped make this day fun and informative!
