Important Directions: New Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

With the addition of Largura Hall, we will now have two carpool lines. The new directions for carpool are as follows:

  • Students with a homeroom in McCormick Hall – Pre-K, kindergarten, first, and second graders – will be dropped off and picked up in the McCormick Hall carpool loop, just as they have in the past. However, the cars in this carpool line will need to begin lining up on 8th Ave N. and 5th St. (instead of 9th and 5th). After drop off and pick up, the cars in this carpool line will make a left onto 4th St. and head away from the schoolThese cars are prohibited from turning right onto 4th St.

  • Students with a homeroom in Largura Hall – third, fourth, and fifth graders – will be dropped off and picked up on 4th St., the west side of Largura Hall. This carpool line will begin lining up on 9th Ave. N. and 4th St. After drop off and pick up, the cars in this carpool line will turn right onto 11th Ave. N. and head away from the school. These cars are prohibited from turning left onto 11th Ave. N.

  • Families who have students with homerooms in both buildings will follow the above directions for the McCormick Hall carpool line during morning arrival. The younger children will enter McCormick Hall directly from the carpool loop and the older students will walk to the corner of 11th Ave N. and 4th St., where they will cross the small intersection with the assistance of a crossing guard.

  • For the afternoon dismissal (3:10 p.m.) carpool, third, fourth, and fifth grade students going home as a walk-up will be accompanied by a teacher to the walk-up area in front of Hope Hall (as described below). Third, fourth, and fifth grade students with one or more younger siblings at McCormick Hall who are going home in carpool (not walk-up) will be accompanied by a teacher to the youngest sibling’s classroom in McCormick Hall and wait to be called for carpool pick-up.

  • On Friday mornings, third, fourth, and fifth grade students will meet their teachers in the gym in order to be ready for the Friday Flag ceremony. Each class will have a designated spot for backpacks. After the Friday Flag ceremony, third, fourth, and fifth grade students will pick up their backpacks and head to Largura Hall with their homeroom teachers. In order to keep our carpool running smoothly and efficiently, these third, fourth, and fifth grade students will be dropped off on 4th St., on the west side of Largura Hall, and they will cross the intersection with the assistance of a crossing guard and head to the gym through the McCormick Hall entrance.
