St. Mark’s Campus

Art
  1. The Early Learning Program utilizes art as a sensory tool. Finger painting and age-appropriate projects allow them to create their own masterpieces. Students develop fine-motor skills through the use of paint brushes, crayons, and play dough.
  2. Art classes are attended by students in Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade in a fully equipped art studio.
  3. Students develop small motor skills such as cutting, coloring, gluing, and shaping small clay forms. They are also taught the basic elements of art (line, shape, texture, form and composition), spatial relationships, background consideration, and color combinations.
  4. Media for older students include oil, chalk, ink, and mixed media. Older students will gain an increasing respect for art, familiarity with great artists and their work, and will fine tune their skills by using perspective and observation skills of sizes and shapes in placement of a composition.
  5. Art projects often correlate with classroom curriculum across all grade levels.
  6. Students in all grade levels have the opportunity to work on a one-of-a-kind masterpiece with professional artists as part of A Future For Art.
Performing Arts
As early as age 2,children have the opportunity to gain confidence and develop a sense of self by performing in front of an audience. They continue to participate in musicals and theatrical productions throughout their time on the St. Mark’s Campus.
  1. ELP 2 students have their first chance to shine on stage by performing during ELP Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day.
  2. Pre-K 3 classes welcome spring with an adorable Easter performance.
  3. Pre-K 4 children delight with their annual Nativity play in December.
  4. Kindergarten students thrill audiences with a traditional Thanksgiving musical each fall.

Dance
  1. The Lower School Dance program gives elementary aged students the opportunity to participate in dance regardless of level or years of experience.
  2. Students are introduced to and explore movement, while also focusing on coordination, flexibility, and strength.
  3. Students will spend time learning different genres of dance including jazz, hip hop, ballet, musical theater, and much more. Not only will students learn techniques that are required of these styles, but they will also learn choreography throughout the year.
  4. There are more opportunities for students to expand their knowledge and training of dance through after school activities.
Music
  1. Students practice skills and enhance their music reading abilities with both hands-on instruction as well as assistance through technology.
  2. Annon-pitched percussion instruments (drums, rattles, and bells), pitched percussion (xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels, and timpani), as well as guitars, ukuleles, and soprano recorders are used throughout their time on the St. Mark’s Campus. Students also use the Music Ace computer program to learn music reading skills.
