Volleyball – Middle School – Varsity

The Episcopal Volleyball program fields Varsity, Junior Varsity, and four Middle School teams, with additional teams at the Beaches and St. Mark’s campuses for students in third grade and older — a pathway that develops players from their earliest years through Upper School. The Munnerlyn Campus teams practice and play home games in Semmes Gym and Alumni Gym.

Varsity volleyball is consistently a contender in postseason play, advancing to regional competition in six of the last seven years. In recent seasons, the Eagles have claimed four district championships and three regional championships and reached the state Final Four three times. Under this sustained success, 13 Episcopal student-athletes have gone on to play volleyball at the collegiate level.

More than results, the program is built on developing the whole athlete — skilled, confident, disciplined, and coachable young people who compete for something bigger than themselves.

Philippa Marks

Program Director and Head Varsity Volleyball Coach

Philippa Marks leads Episcopal’s volleyball program, bringing deep roots in the Jacksonville volleyball community, where she grew up playing and coaching. She has guided the Eagles’ varsity to four district championships, three regional championships, and three state Final Four appearances, while helping 13 Episcopal student-athletes advance to play at the collegiate level.

Coach Marks believes in developing the person, not just the player — building athletes who are confident, disciplined, and coachable, and who play for something bigger than the individual. It is a philosophy she captures in the program’s guiding phrase, “More Than Me.” For Coach Marks, success is measured not only in wins but in the growth she sees in every athlete who comes through the program.

Beyond Episcopal, she is the owner and director of Jax Pursuit Volleyball.
