Golf – JV – Girls

The Episcopal Girls Golf program offers Varsity and developmental Junior Varsity teams, giving student-athletes opportunities to build their skills and compete at a range of levels.

Over the past eight years, the Eagles have qualified as a team for the State Golf Championship five times, with individual golfers qualifying in two additional years.

The program takes a player-centered approach, helping each golfer pursue her goals while developing confidence and a commitment to continuous improvement. From learning the fundamentals to competing at the state level, Episcopal golfers build an appreciation for a game they can enjoy for a lifetime.

Thelma Ewell

Program Director and Head Varsity Girls Golf Coach

Thelma Ewell is in her eighth year as Episcopal’s Girls Golf Program Director and Head Coach. Under her leadership, the Eagles have qualified as a team for the State Golf Championship five times, with individual players advancing in two additional years.

An LPGA Class A Professional and member of the LPGA Professionals since 2000, Coach Ewell brings extensive playing, coaching, and leadership experience to Episcopal. She competed on professional mini tours from 1997 to 2000 before working with First Tee chapters in St. Johns County from 2000 to 2006 and Tennessee from 2006 to 2018. During her First Tee career, she earned Master Coach and Master Executive certifications and served as Executive Director of The First Tee of Tennessee in Nashville. She also served as head golf coach at Fisk University.

Coach Ewell’s philosophy centers on the individual player, helping each golfer work toward her goals. She views golf as a lifelong journey of learning and improvement, encouraging athletes to embrace both the challenges and the rewards of the game.
