Cross Country – Girls – Upper School

The Cross Country Program includes athletes from sixth through twelfth grades on the Munnerlyn Campus. Over the years the teams have established themselves as consistent contenders in the top 20 in the state, including five state championships since 2000. The Knight Sports Campus includes a newly cleared cross country trail, with convenient parking, locker rooms, bathrooms, and concessions. The Episcopal Middle School cross country team hosts an annual 3K on the Knight Campus.

Stacy Brunell

Stacy Brunell Stacy Brunell, a dedicated and inspirational coach, brings a wealth of experience and passion to her role. Stacy is a proud University of Washington alumna with a degree in Speech Communication. During her time at UW, she distinguished herself as a standout athlete in cross country and track, earning the title of Most Inspirational and becoming a Pac-10 finalist. Now entering her 13th year of coaching and 11th year at ESJ, Stacy serves as the Program Director for the girls’ cross-country program and the boys’ and girls’ track teams. Her leadership has been instrumental in the success of her teams, with the girls’ XC program qualifying for the state meet every year since she began coaching. Notably, the team finished as state runners-up in 2022 and secured third place in 2023. Stacy’s dedication to excellence has not gone unnoticed. She has been honored with the John Ryan Award for Excellence in Coaching and the Senior Choice Award. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes hard work, resilience, and personal growth, qualities that have helped her athletes succeed both on and off the field.
