Cross Country – Boys – Upper School

A proud and long-standing program, Cross Country develops Middle and Upper School runners who consistently contend among Florida’s best, with eight high school championships since 1982. The Eagles have posted their strongest top-10 results at the FHSAA State Championship in recent seasons, finishing seventh in Class 2A in both 2024 and 2025.

Athletes train with an emphasis on discipline, endurance, and steady development, building the work ethic and mental toughness the sport rewards. Middle School runners compete in 3K races across the state, earning multiple top-10 finishes and a program-best third-place finish among Florida independent schools in 2025.

Each fall, ESJ hosts the Eagles on the River 3K home race on the Munnerlyn Campus, overlooking the St. Johns River — a signature tradition that captures the spirit of Episcopal cross country.

Chad Senesac ’98

Program Director and Head Boys Cross Country Coach

Chad Senesac is entering his 15th season as an Episcopal Cross Country coach and his sixth season as the Boys Cross Country Program Director. Before his current role, Coach Senesac founded the annual Eagles on the River 3K home race and built a Middle School program with multiple state championship appearances, including a 2025 program-best third-place finish among Florida independent schools. His high school teams have earned their strongest top-10 finishes at the FHSAA State Championship over the past three seasons.

A graduate of the University of Florida and the University of North Florida, Coach Senesac brings an analytical approach to coaching and draws on his own multi-sport experience as both an athlete and a coach.
