St. Mark’s Campus Celebrates Susan Kwartler’s Retirement and Welcomes Lauren Griffith

After an extraordinary 42-year career on the St. Mark’s Campus, Susan Kwartler retired this summer, leaving behind a legacy that is both heartfelt and impactful. What began in 1983 as a temporary teaching assistant role grew into a lifelong vocation. Over the decades, Susan served in various capacities, including Assistant to the Head of School, Director of Admissions, and, most recently, Director of Development. To honor Susan’s remarkable contributions, Episcopal established the Susan Kwartler Award for Staff Excellence beginning next year. This annual award will celebrate a non-teaching staff member who exemplifies Susan’s spirit of excellence, integrity, and collaboration.

Lauren Griffith has joined Episcopal as the new Director of Development. A familiar face to many, Lauren is the mother of two Episcopal students, Ginny ‘33 and Maggie ‘35. She brings extensive experience in development, most recently serving at Jacksonville University. Episcopal is excited to welcome Lauren to the ESJ community in this new capacity, and is confident she will provide strong leadership for The Episcopal Fund, Ortega River Run, A Vision for Art, and other initiatives in the years ahead.
