The Episcopal College Counseling team continued its work into the second semester with a series of grade-level programming and individualized meetings, all designed to support students and families at every stage of the college process.
Beginning in January, college counselors met with members of the junior class and their families for one-on-one meetings. During these conversations, counselors reviewed each student’s academic records while also discussing senior-year course planning, extracurricular involvement, summer opportunities, and each student’s interests and priorities in the college search. Following these meetings, counselors will continue to offer personalized college suggestions tailored to each student’s goals and values. Before students leave for the summer, they will have another opportunity to meet with their counselors through required end-of-year conferences in April and May.
In February, the college counseling team launched its College Counseling Seminar series for juniors. These sessions are designed to give students a head start on the college search and application process, helping them build a balanced college list and begin engaging with key components of the application. Throughout the spring, juniors will participate in seminars during Extended Advisory and free periods.
The College Counseling team also continued its work with underclassmen. Counselors are visiting ninth grade students in their Freshman Seminar classes to build on earlier conversations. These visits will conclude with students completing a college research project. In addition, counselors are offering optional meetings for ninth and tenth grade students and their families between March and May, creating space for early guidance and thoughtful planning as students begin to explore their interests and goals.
