All Varsity Teams Advance to Regional Level Playoffs for 2025 Fall and Winter Seasons

High school athletic departments across the country strive to produce winning teams in their respective sports each year. Few schools, however, offer as many as 25 varsity teams across 19 different sports. Even fewer can claim that every varsity team advanced to at least the regional level of the state tournament. That is exactly what Episcopal has accomplished.

After advancing 24 of 25 varsity teams in the 2023 and 2024 school years, the Eagles are poised to eclipse that mark in 2025-26. To date, every fall and winter season varsity team has advanced through district play and reached at least the regional level of the state tournament.

“We take great pride in offering unmatched opportunities for our students to participate in athletics at Episcopal,” said Andy Kidd ‘99, Director of Athletics. “At the same time, we work hard to provide the coaching and training necessary to compete and win at the highest level. This philosophy is embraced across all sports, and it is reflected in our results. Additionally, the 24 student-athletes who committed to play at the collegiate level this February demonstrate that Episcopal provides meaningful opportunities for student-athletes to develop their skills in ways that attract colleges and universities.”

Football

The Varsity Football team, led by Coach Marcus Wells ’90, finished the regular season with an impressive 7-3 record. Their regular-season dominance, highlighted by wins over NFEI and Christ Church Academy, earned them the opportunity to host the first round of the FHSAA 1A State Playoffs.

Volleyball

Varsity Volleyball continued its tradition of excellence in 2025 under first-year Head Coach Annie Antar. The team fought through a rigorous schedule to secure its place in the postseason with a 13-10 regular season record.

  • Regional Qualification: After a thrilling 3-1 victory over Bolles in the district tournament, the Eagles advanced into the 3A regional bracket of the state tournament.

The Cross Country Program had a banner year, with both the boys’ and girls’ teams qualifying for the FHSAA 2A Regional Meet at Cecil Field and subsequently advancing to the state championships in Tallahassee.

  • Girls: Following a strong second place finish at districts, the girls moved through Regionals on their way to securing a third place finish at the state meet..
  • Boys: The boys took fourth at districts and pushed through the regional competition followed by a seventh overall finish at the state meet.

Golf

Golfers represented Episcopal with distinction on the links this year. Both teams advanced through the district rounds to compete in the Class 1A Regional Championships, with the boys team advancing to the state tournament in Mission Inn.

The pool was a place of record-breaking speed this fall. Episcopal hosted the district championships and saw a significant number of athletes qualify for the Class 1A Regional Meet as well as the Class 1A state championship meet.
