Description: Bible 6 surveys the ancient scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments. Placing Biblical events on a timeline and finding their location on world maps allows students to understand the real time and real places of the Bible. The course examines key stories to engage students and begin them on the pathway to reading scripture.
Level: 7th grade
Length: Nine weeks
Description: This survey of the Hebrew Bible offers a glimpse of its major themes, characters, and genres. Understanding the core stories of the Jewish and Christian tradition helps prepare the way for connecting to future Theology courses and for encouraging intercultural communication. The Bible incorporates diverse voices to describe God, humanity, and the nature of life. This course aims to do the same.
Level: 8th grade
Length: Nine weeks
Description: This survey of the New Testament offers a glimpse of its content, context, themes, and relevance. Understanding the core stories of the Jewish and Christian tradition once again helps prepare the way for connecting to future Theology courses and for encouraging intercultural communication. The Bible incorporates diverse voices to tell the story of Jesus and the growth of his early followers. Likewise, students offer their perspectives and, hopefully, experience growth.
