Fine Arts Chapel Celebrates Isaiah 2:3
ESJ’s annual Fine Arts Chapel was presented for Middle and Upper School students in the Deming Theatre on Wednesday, September 20. The program consisted of a performance selections titled “Rampage” by the combined Wind Ensembles, and a performance of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” Honors Dance 4 students performed a dance to the song “Oceans” with choreography by dance instructor Emily Johnston. Honors Theatre students performed a piece from the musical “Matilda,” and a piece titled “I am an Artist” with Lilybelle Thoburn ’25 and Abbay Magevney ’25. Reed Krueger ’26 sang “Waving through the Window” from “Dear Evan Hansen,” and Middle School visual artists were featured in a slideshow of their work.
This year’s Fine Arts theme verse is Isaiah 2:3: Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.”
“This verse highlights that God calls all of us from all of our different backgrounds and abilities to follow Him and discover His purposes together in community,” said Katie Black-Bowling ’95, Director of Fine Arts. “This verse will serve as the backdrop for all of the performances and gallery exhibits this year as the department celebrates our artists and explores themes such as multiculturalism, climbing and ascending, paths, ways, and journeys.”
