The Episcopal rowing team trains out of the Walton Boathouse, a state-of-the-art facility located on the banks of the Arlington River at the ESJ Knight Sports Campus. The boys’ and girls’ teams row a fall season that leads up to the scholastic season in the spring. Recent highlights include placing second in team points at the Florida Scholastic Rowing Association State Championship for 2017 and 2018. The team has been very successful across many boat classes, including winning 27 Scholastic State titles in the last 10 years alone. Multiple athletes continue to row in college, including Boston University, Boston College, Bucknell, Cornell, Duke, FIT, Fordham, Jacksonville University, MIT, Rollins, United States Naval Academy, University of Alabama, University of North Carolina, University of Massachusetts, University of Tennessee, University of Texas, Stetson, Princeton University, and UCLA. The Rowing Program fields teams at the Middle and Upper School levels. The Episcopal Rowing Program is led by Program Director Mike Alton, Head Girls Coach Cristi Skeels ’91, and Head Boys Coach Chip Morgan ’03.

Cristi Skeels ’91
Cristi Skeels ’91 returns to the Head Girls’ Coach position after a few years of coaching middle school and assisting with the girls’ team. Coach Skeels was previously the Head Girls’ Coach from 1996 to 2012. During her tenure, the girls team won multiple city championship titles, six individual boat state titles, and a team State Championship in 2004. In 2005, her Junior 4 won the prestigious Stotesbury Cup in Philadelphia. Coach Skeels is a 2002 recipient of the John Ryan Excellence in Coaching Award. She also teaches Spanish in the Upper School. Coach Skeels rowed lightweight at Stetson University. She got her start in rowing at Episcopal in seventh grade and she earned the Coaches Award as a senior.
