Sixth Grade Returns from Seacamp Adventure in the Keys

Sixth-graders returned last week from their annual trip to Seacamp in Big Pine Key. The four-day trip enhanced and reinforced the marine science knowledge that students have learned in the classroom with hands-on, interdisciplinary activities, such as snorkeling, squid dissection, and a shark lab.

Students enjoyed the opportunity not only to get to know their classmates but also to step outside their comfort zones as they grew in their awareness of various marine communities. They had a great time playing games such as barracuda and predator among the mangroves, and they enjoyed displaying their talents at the campfire on the final night of their adventure.

“The great weather, enthusiastic counselors, and engaging programs ensured that the sixth-grade students made memories that will last a lifetime,” said Heather Oulton-Rousseau, sixth-grade instructor.
