College Counseling Attends NACAC

College Counseling staff attended the National Association for College Admission Counseling’s (NACAC) annual conference last week in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ryan Riggs, Andrea Rizzi, and Julie Carter attended numerous sessions that explored a wide variety of topics within the profession, including essay writing, test-optional admission, national trends in honors education, college counseling programming for parents, technology for your college counseling program, and art school admission. The keynote speaker for the conference was New York Times journalist and author Nick Kristof. They also heard from Dr. Jean Twenge, Professor of Psychology at San Diego State University, who presented on understanding the “smartphone generation.” There were many opportunities to network with other admission and college counseling colleagues. In addition, Mr. Riggs toured the University of Utah.
