The Double Dual Regatta Recap

By: Olivia Kato ‘

This past weekend, Episcopal School of Jacksonville’s Rowing Team competed in their first regatta of the spring season.

Along with Episcopal, the rowing teams of Capital City Rowing (CCR), Space Coast Rowing and Bolles were also competing. Episcopal entered two varsity eights, two second varsity eights, two third varsity eights, a fourth varsity eight, a freshman eight and several middle school eights. The boats competed in shirt races, in which the winning team receives shirts from each boat it beats in the lengthy 1500 meter sprint race. The Upper School boats had two races: one against CCR and the other against Space Coast. Episcopal had several wins overall against CCR and Space Coast, with most races structured as having only two boats, with a possibility for three. With this first, successful regatta behind them, the team is now one step closer to approaching the city, regional and state championships in April.
