Sixth Grade Visits Skidaway Island

The sixth grade went on its annual overnight trip to the University of Georgia Marine Education Center and Aquarium on Skidaway Island last week. This trip is a culmination of everything sixth graders have studied during the first semester in science class, which includes invertebrates, fish, coastal ecosystems, and symbiosis. The trip is an opportunity for the sixth graders to get a hands-on and feet-in experience while also cultivating friendships that will last a lifetime. “Despite the cold weather, the students had an amazing time experiencing the invertebrates and ecosystems of the Georgia coast! From smelly fish dissections and muddy marsh walks to holding horseshoe crabs, the students did it all. The staff at the UGA Aquarium were amazed at how polite, genuinely excited, and interested our students were during our time with them,” said Daniel Rhiner, sixth grader teacher.
