Beaches Hosts Annual Volleyball Clinic on Campus
The Munnerlyn Campus Varsity Volleyball team hosted its annual clinic opportunity by inviting Lower School students in third through fifth grades to practice after school on September 24 in the Beaches Campus Gym. The clinic was made available by Jaime L. Simmons, Volleyball Program Director, as a pathway for students to learn new skills and participate in drills. The clinic had 25 Lower School student athletes and six Varsity Volleyball team members engage in a mentorship program to build skills, promote teamwork, and foster a love of the game. The benefits of these experiences with the ESJ Munnerlyn Campus include gaining valuable perspectives from seasoned players and positive interactions with ESJ students as mentors and the opportunity to work with ESJ coaches. During the clinic, students practiced essential volleyball skills such as passing, serving, setting, blocking, and digging. “We are excited to offer experiences like the volleyball clinic, where our Varsity Volleyball works directly with Lower School students,” said Matt Flakus, Lower School Athletic Director. “Experiences like these help younger students build confidence and learn from those that are already excelling in the sport.”
