Mark LaBorde ’84 Named Alumnus of the Year
The Alumnus of the Year Award is given to an alumnus who has consistently provided exemplary service to Episcopal by enhancing the mission, success, stature, and well-being of the school.
Mark LaBorde, Class of 1984 and current Board of Trustees member, was named Alumnus of the Year at the final Board of Trustees meeting held Tuesday.
“Mark has been an instrumental part of Episcopal’s most transformational period in the school’s history. The amount of time and care he has spent serving the school has changed our future, and we are truly grateful and headed toward an unprecedented tomorrow due to his efforts,” said The Rev. Adam Greene, Head of School, who presented the award.
The Board of Trustees benefitted from his service for almost ten years – 2016-2024!One of the largest projects Mark has undertaken for Episcopal was co-chairing due diligence efforts for mergers with St. Mark’s and Beaches Campuses. He has also helped with strategic planning, with Boldly ESJ and Boldly ESJ II; served as Finance Committee Chair; headed the Admission/Marketing Committee; Risk Committee; and served on the Alumni Board from 2011-2015.
He and his family are members of all of Episcopal’s giving societies: the 1966 Society, the Great Oak Society, and the 50 by 50 Society. Mark continues to serve the Jacksonville community in numerous ways, as a Board member at Baptist Health and Cathedral Arts Project. He has also served on the Board at San Episcopal Day School, the UNF College of Health, and the Florida Health Insurance Advisory Board.
“Mark has truly gone above and beyond for Episcopal in all the ways possible; he has changed our future! We know we will continue to benefit from his time and expertise, and we are truly thankful for everything he has done for Episcopal,” said Adam.
Mark has two alumni children, Jenna ’17 and Jack ’20.
