Sparking Curiosity: Students Illuminate Learning with Electrical Circuit Showcase

St. Mark’s Campus fourth grade students recently held an open house to showcase creations stemming from a hands-on exploration of electrical circuits. After learning about parallel and series circuits, as well as the properties of conductors and insulators, they constructed their own flashlights. After mastering the basics, the electrical circuit unit continued with the ideation and creation of miniature wired houses, where students seamlessly integrated switches into four distinct circuits.

Laura Fackler, Dean of Students and Science Instructor, noted the emphasis on fostering creativity in the house designs. “Beyond mastering the construction of switches and circuits, students infused their projects with imaginative features, ensuring each house boasted its own unique charm. Students enjoyed sharing their houses with faculty, staff, and students from other grades.”
