Will Ryan Johnson Named Middle School Lacrosse Head Coach

Episcopal announces the appointment of Will Ryan Johnson as the new Head Coach for Middle School lacrosse program. Coach Will brings a rich background in lacrosse, combining more than eight years of coaching experience at both the youth and high school levels with an impressive 17-year tenure as a player. His deep understanding of the game, coupled with a steadfast commitment to player development, makes him an exceptional addition to the Eagles.

Coach Will’s philosophy centers on fostering a positive, patient, and attentive coaching environment, where student-athletes can enhance their foundational and advanced lacrosse skills. He prioritizes creating an engaging, safe space for learning and growth, pushing players to excel and reach their highest potential.

“I am thrilled to embark on this new chapter with the Episcopal School of Jacksonville,” Coach Will expressed. “My aim is to bolster both the fundamental and advanced capabilities of our middle school players, preparing them for varsity level play. I am eager to meet the team and am grateful for this opportunity. Go Eagles!”

With a distinguished playing career that began in Connecticut at St. Bernard’s School and continued at Mitchell College, where he earned four varsity letters and stood out as a formidable defenseman, Coach Will’s expertise is as impressive as his roles as an assistant coach at his alma mater, head coach at Mandarin High School, and positions with the First Coast Crush Lacrosse Club in Jacksonville and the Fleming Island youth organization.

“As the Director of the Episcopal Boys Lacrosse Program, I am overjoyed to welcome Coach Will to our family,” said Coach Glenn Carter. “His professionalism, dedication to youth development, and innovative coaching strategies are exactly what our program needs to elevate our Middle School lacrosse team. We look forward to the energy, knowledge, and leadership Coach Will will bring to our community.”
