Episcopal's care and concern for its students means that assessment of safety and security protocols is ongoing. Along with the presence of physical (seen and unseen) measures, Episcopal routinely reviews and updates campus security policies and procedures. We do not publicly disclose many of our security measures in order to maintain the highest level of safety.
Examples of Current Safety and Security Measures:
-
Episcopal employs armed security personnel on all its campuses
-
The school conducts unannounced drills for fire, lockdown, and severe weather
-
An anonymous reporting system is available to faculty, staff, parents, and students through the ESJ app
-
Every faculty and staff member, coach, and chaperone is required to complete the Safeguarding God's Children training, which addresses child abuse prevention and awareness, and the prevention of sexual misconduct. The Safeguarding program was designed by the Church Pension Group and has been widely adopted by the Episcopal Church (read more here: https://www.churchpublishing.

Security camera systems help to monitor the campuses
-
Access to campuses during the day is limited and monitored
-
A secure fence with alarmed gates surrounds the academic buildings on the campuses
-
Episcopal maintains an outstanding relationship with the Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach Sheriff Offices
-
Faculty and staff undergo Active Shooter Training, presented by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office
-
In 2018 the school implemented a Health, Safety, and Well-Being program that seeks to ensure the culture of the school is caring, understanding and supportive. The initiative provides comprehensive programming about all aspects of physical and mental health
