Pre-K Students Receive Visit from St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office

Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 students were recently thrilled by a special visit from St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office’s Sargent Andrew Carre, Deputy Jeremy Bryson (father to Addison, Pre-K 3), and a two-year-old police goldendoodle. Officers spoke with children about strangers, calling 911, and what to do if they get lost in a crowd. Their four legged friend, Deputy Sandy, showed off impressive commands and gave each student an opportunity to pet her. Students loved hearing the sirens and getting to go inside a real police car!

 

Age-appropriate safety highlights included:

  • A police man or woman in uniform with a badge is a symbol they are here to help and keep children safe.
  • Children should learn the real first and last names of parents. If lost in a crowded place, stay in one place and yell their name loudly.
  • The number for calling 911 is 911. Stay on the phone with the person on the line until someone is there to help. 
  • Do not pet dogs without asking permission first.
