Training for Ascension St. Vincent’s Ortega River Run Off to a Great Start
In preparation for the Ascension St. Vincent’s Ortega River Run on February 25, nearly 25 kindergarten – fifth grade students started Morning Mile Running Club this week on ESJ, St. Mark’s Campus. Led by Episcopal parent Jessica Ryals, this free club meets twice a week before school until February 22. “Morning Mile enables students to increase agility and to build stamina for the run in a fun, age appropriate way,” said Jessica. “It’s also a great chance for them to get their wiggles out before school!” In addition to Morning Mile, students are preparing for the run in P.E. class with Coach Tre.
On Saturday, January 7, Episcopal also partnered with 1st Place Sports to host a training run for anyone in the community interested in learning about and experiencing the course prior to the race. “The weather was beautiful and the turnout was great,” said Susan Kwartler, Director of Development, ESJ, St. Mark’s Campus.
