The Sailing program is led by Florida Yacht Club Waterfront Director Jodi Weinbecker and Junior Program Director Dustin Domer. The Club Sailing team trains out of the Florida Yacht Club located on the St. Johns River.

Coach Weinbecker has been the Waterfront Director at the Florida Yacht Club since 2013 and has coached sailing for more than 15 years. Coach Domer coached for more than eight years at the Columbia Yacht Club and the Chicago Yacht Club before joining the Florida Yacht Club as Junior Program Director.

Sailing practices twice a week at the Florida Yacht Club from 4:00-6:30 p.m., with transportation provided by the school. The team also participates in strength and conditioning with on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday practices are held on weekends that the teams are not traveling to regattas.

Dustin Domer

Dustin Domer is from Chicago, IL, where he began sailing at the Columbia Yacht Club at the age of 10. He quickly developed a love for the sport and began competitively sailing all over the U.S. and Canada at 13. After high school Dustin started the sailing team at his college, the University of Illinois at Chicago, where the team qualified for College Sailing Nationals in their second year. He was also very active racing keelboats, most notable Tarten 10s’, J70s, Melges 24s and Farr 40s. Dustin was the head Opti Coach at Chicago Yacht Club and Jr. Sailing Director at Columbia Yacht Club before moving to Jacksonville in 2017. Dustin is currently the Waterfront Director at the Florida Yacht Club and has coached the Varsity ESJ Sailing team for eight years now with the team qualifying for the South Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Associations District Championship the past three years. In his spare time Dustin enjoys traveling the Southeast with his girlfriend and dog Kobe and fishing in the St. Johns River and surrounding waters. please reach out to Coach Domer at [email protected]
