Students Job Shadow at the Adecco Group

Career Launcher Assists with Experiences

Episcopal’s Career Launcher program has partnered with The Adecco Group, the largest staffing firm in the country, to provide job shadowing experiences for Episcopal students in Upper School during the month of June.

On four days during the summer, 18 Episcopal students are participating in this opportunity, working with Adecco employees in the following areas: legal, finance, accounting, marketing, healthcare, technology, engineering, and human resources.  The students are primarily listening and observing, but also analyzing situations, applying information, using critical thinking and decision-making, learning effective communications, public speaking, taking responsibility, teamwork and writing. The students are learning how concepts taught in school can be applied in the workplace. Students with a 3.0 GPA or higher were invited to apply.

“Episcopal is grateful to Adecco and especially Rich Thompson, Adecco’s Regional Head of HR for North America, UK and Ireland (father of Jack Thompson ’19) for providing this unique experience to our students,” said Episcopal Director of Alumni Relations Heather Johnson ’90. “This opportunity provides an authentic work experience not offered inside a regular high school classroom and  gives students access to meaningful work in the corporate world. The ESJ Job Shadow Experience with The Adecco Group enhances the vibrancy and strength of the Career Launcher program and helps students prepare for college by providing insight into possible majors and career paths.”

Jack Thompson ’19 believed a job shadow experience with The Adecco Group would benefit Episcopal students and approached his father and Heather Johnson ’90 with the idea.

Career Launcher, a resource for alumni transitioning from college to career, was created by Episcopal’s Alumni Association with the goal of helping alumni early in their careers by providing opportunities and resources exclusively to Episcopal alumni.
