Dear Episcopal Community:
There is no way to fully convey to you how thankful we are for your support during a year that is one of the most complex our school has ever faced. This is truly an exceptional year. I say “exceptional” because it is true that adversity builds community and challenges will always create opportunities for us to grow and become better. The coronavirus pandemic showed us that we could thrive in response to historic disruption of our daily lives on campus, and we now know that we can provide the best remote instruction available anywhere. The racial justice movement showed us that our expectations that all members of our community respect the dignity of every human being at times have fallen short, and we now know that we must continue to educate ourselves and each other on what steps to take to achieve the sense of inclusion we want. We also completed two historic mergers - building our school into an institution that now serves students across ages and geographies in our community.
The past year has made us creative, flexible, and most importantly, grateful for each other. Truly none of this would have been possible without your support. The unforeseen and immediate changes that needed to be made for our faculty, students, staff, and coaches so we could finish the academic school year; the Commencement our seniors and their families deserved; the alternative ways we sought to celebrate all of our students’ contributions; the Chapels that went on uninterrupted and the community service that was carried out -- all of these special and every day tasks relied upon the gifts you gave during the year and your generosity. We have led with courage through these challenging times, and the young men and women in our care have been able to see this each and every day.
Donations to the school support our endowment, provide financial aid, and help us meet immediate needs on our campus. Because of your belief in our mission, we were able to finish a year unlike any other ever before in our history in the best way possible. It is because of you and your gifts that we are able to continue the wonderful work of our faculty and graduate students who will go on to change our world with their gifts.
Blessings,
The Rev. Adam Greene
