French Language Students Excel at Congres de la Culture Francaise

Students had an outstanding performance at the Congrès de la Culture Française en Floride last week. Episcopal placed second in its division and also ranked among the top three schools in the competition due to the highest points collected. Students earned more Superior ratings than Excellent, excelling in categories from poetry to presentations and demonstrating their incredible dedication to the French language and culture. This year’s theme was “La Cuisine Francophone,” and students embraced it with enthusiasm, incorporating elements of Francophone gastronomy into their projects and performances. Individual achievements included:

  • Best Project & Best Presentation – Eileen Hu ’26 for showcasing the diversity of Francophone countries as well as what unites them, as noted by the judges.
  • Best Chanson Performance – “Le Festin” (from Ratatouille), performed by Ramona Carter ’28 and Sarina Tangyingyong ’28, which was so well received that they were invited to perform at the awards banquet.

These achievements are the result of months of dedication—students have been preparing since September during Tutorials, UP activities, and MS activities.  In addition, World Languages faculty Bouchra Benchaaboune and Federica Smith also accepted new roles as Student President and President’s Sponsor of Congrès.
