Installation Ceremonies Held for Student Leadership Organizations

Munnerlyn Campus recently held installation ceremonies for Student Government, A.I.R. (Awareness, Inclusion, and Respect) Council, and Honor and Discipline Councils.  Student Government is responsible for planning all of the events of Homecoming week–the pep rally, the powderpuff game, and the dance–as well as winter formal and spring week. Additionally, students propose at least one “initiative” each year in the hopes of bringing lasting and positive change to the ESJ community.

During Student Government installation, Jon Ritchie, Student Body President, stressed his commitment to creating “spaces that are safe and enjoyable for everyone” and invited his peers to “share feedback about initiatives they’d like to see Student Government pursue.”

Honor and Discipline Council members serve as peer support and educators that seek to further strengthen ESJ’s community of trust. Students also manage the process when a violation occurs that negatively impacts the campus.

A.I.R. leadership dedicates themselves to building a community where everyone can thrive and reach their full potential; fostering a community where every individual feels like they belong; and most importantly, celebrating the unique experiences, and perspectives of others. Dr. Derrick King is the student sponsor of the group.

“A.I.R. members recognize that our differences make us stronger and promise that as members of the A.I.R Council, they will be leaders in our school community and engage in continuous learning, reflection, and action to better advocate for the entire school community,” said Julie Durden, Co-Chair of the A.I.R. Steering Committee.
