2024 Freshman Orientation Adventure (9GOA) Photos Posted Online
Ninth graders and Upper School counselors are still talking about the fun and challenges of the Freshman Orientation Adventure (9GOA). The campers are grateful for the caring and wise counselors, the great food, the connections with nature, and the incredible singing at the campfires. The killer rapids on the Chattooga River, the 5-mile hike, Bob Slack, the bus rides, and the emotional closing circle were named as highlights of the trip, and the frequent rainstorms and yellow jackets have faded in our memories. Students started school with new friends and a new respect for their own abilities. Last week each camper and counselor was given an envelope of trip photos. On the trip there was a constant presence of love and safety from the teachers, seniors, juniors, and God. I will be forever grateful for this wonderful experience. There was not a thing that we did not like. At the closing circle I looked around at my grade and felt so blessed to go to ESJ and to go on this trip.-
