Fine Arts Department Honors Seniors

The Fine Arts Department recently honored outstanding senior visual and performing arts students at the annual Fine Arts Awards event.

A highlight of the evening was the revealing of the juried art show results: In ceramics, Katie Frick received first place, Ginny Kurlas second; and Hannah Bittner third. For Draw Paint Print, Chester Holland earned first and Declan Hammerling received second. In photography, Gabe Frommer received first, Emory Nelson second; and Rohan Jones third.

Myla Turner received the FANS Purchase Award and her photography will be on display for five years in the FANS gallery space in the Berg. Myla also received the Fine Arts Ambassador Award, which honors a student who uses their artistic talent to bless others and build community.

Winners of the Sunshine Awards, given in honor of Sally Deming, ESJ’s first Director of Fine Arts, were Grace Putterman and Elle Morrow.

Individual Discipline Awards: Hannah Bittner, Ceramics; Declan Hammerling, Draw Paint Print; Rohan Jones, Photography; Garland Rogers, National Art Honor Society; Kylie Philips, Chorus; Ella Palmer, Theatre Arts; Halle Taylor, International Thespian Society; Myla Turner, Technical Theatre; Halle Peterson, Dance; Lauren Roberts, Tri-M Music Honor Society; Matt Salek, John Philip Sousa award for Band; Audrey Swingle, Louis Armstrong award for Jazz.

All seniors who completed the four year arts track received their headshots in frames decorated by FANS member Amy Cumbow. Prior to the awards ceremony, parents and students enjoyed a reception provided by FANS, the Fine Arts parent association.
