Steve Williams Library and Learning Center Dedicated in Memory of Beloved Teacher
On Sunday, more than 200 donors gathered for the official opening and dedication of the Steve Williams Library and Learning Center. Following remarks from The Rev. Adam Greene, Head of School, and Beville Anderson, Head of Lower School, St. Mark’s Campus, current St. Mark’s Campus students shared their thoughts about the new space. Eloise Markley ‘32 spoke about the impact of reading, and how the Steve Williams Library and Learning Center will continue to have an impact on her life. James “J.J.” Trimble ‘32, told of his excitement about using the green screen and 3D printer in the new Childress Innovation Lab. He added how pleased he was to use the white board tables for collaboration on group projects.
Thanks to the generosity of over 300 donors, including former and current students, faculty, staff, and friends of Steve Williams, ESJ, St. Mark’s Campus raised $395,000 to transform the library in his memory. Mr. Williams was a beloved teacher who taught more than 30 years on the St. Mark’s Campus.
Episcopal is grateful to Claudia Adams, Poppy Clements, George Egan, and Stephanie Kohla for their time and generous spirit as they helped to raise the funds to renovate the library. An anonymous donor match of $25,000 also enabled ESJ to reach its fundraising goal. The vision and design of the Steve Williams Library and Learning Center came to fruition thanks to generous in-kind support from Group 4 Design, led by Karie Kovacocy.
