June Global Programs Include Ancient Italy, and French Exchange Trips

Episcopal’s Global Learning Program sent multiple trips abroad this summer, including a French exchange and an Ancient Italy experience. “The students who participated in these programs gained a better understanding of other people and their culture. The opportunity to travel abroad not only facilitated learning beyond what the classroom can provide, but positively impacted students through this experience,” said Lara Duguid, Director of Global Programs. “The students who participated cultivated lifelong relationships with their host families and they all greatly enjoyed the interactions with those they met when traveling.”

The French Exchange visited Château des Ducs de Bretagne and La Palace Royale, Paris and Giverny. The group visited the Arc de Triomphe, Monet’s Garden, a classic piano concert in Sainte Chapelle, the Champs Elysees, the Louvre, and of course, the Eiffel Tower. Ancient Italy students started in Naples, visited Pompeii and Vicenza, where they saw the Teatro Olimpico, and frescoes at the Villa Valmarana. They then went on to Rome and to Venice, enjoying the beach in Lido, visiting the Piazza di San Marco, the Doge’s Palace, and the Basilica, and taking gondola rides. The trip’s goal was to deepen students’ knowledge of Roman history, the Latin language, and Italian art history.
