Faculty and Staff Gift More Than $300,000 to Boldly ESJ Campaign
Episcopal Faculty and staff have so far pledged more than $260,000 in donations and pledges to support Boldly ESJ, the school’s current capital campaign. A match from an anonymous donor brought the total to more than $300,000 for this transformational effort. Phase One of the campaign will fund construction of the new Haskell Center for Science and Student Life, while Phase Two will fund the renovation of both the Buck Student Center and the Foerster Building science classrooms. Marion Zeiner, Megan Wickenden, and Jono Hustis served as faculty and staff chairs for the campaign.
“Faculty support of this project remains crucial to the campaign’s success,” said The Rev. Adam Greene, Head of School. “That so many faculty and staff members on campus have joined together to support this campaign says so much about our great teachers here. And it’s not just the science department – gifts have come in from all over campus — art teachers, coaches, history teachers, counselors — every department has supported this campaign. We greatly appreciate the love our faculty and staff have for our school.”
Ceremonial groundbreaking will take place on May 9 at the final Board of Trustees meeting of the school year, with construction beginning May 22, the week after Commencement. To date the Boldly ESJ campaign has raised more than $19 million of its $26 million goal. The almost 40,000 square foot building will provide vital upgrades for students and faculty. The first floor of the Haskell Center will house a new kitchen and dining hall that will double the size of the school’s current kitchen while providing indoor and outdoor areas for student and faculty dining. In addition, the second floor of the Haskell Center will contain cutting edge science classrooms for biology, chemistry, environmental science, and marine biology. Multipurpose space will serve robotics and technology innovation students.
