Global Learning Programs Summer 2023

Episcopal's Global Learning program will offer several summer trips this year for Upper School students, including France, Italy, and Costa Rica, led by ESJ faculty and staff. In Costa Rica, students have the opportunity to spend two weeks with host families in Heredia as well as Sámara, Costa Rica, where they will take language classes, participate in cultural activities and excursions, as well as volunteer in both Heredia, one of Costa Rica’s most historical cities, and Sámara, a small beach town located on Guanacaste’s Pacific coast. The trip is a Spanish immersion trip combined with the opportunity for academic credit and community service hours.

The Ancient Italy trip will focus on the antiquity-inspired artwork and architecture of Renaissance Rome, Naples, and Venice as well as a trip to Pompeii. Students will see glass blowing, tour the Guggenheim and St. Mark's Square in Venice, tour the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill, and visit the Vatican Museums.

The French trip will spend time in Nantes and Paris, with students staying with a host family and attending classes at St Félix-La Salle.

"The French Exchange program is a perfect opportunity for the students to practice their French and have real conversations with native speakers. The students will end up speaking French fluently without even noticing, with a beautiful accent," said Farah Barake, trip leader and French teacher.
