Task Parties Turn Trash Into Treasure

St. Mark’s Campus first – fifth grade students were recently challenged to turn items that might otherwise be thrown away into creative inventions. Individuals were given one “task” in art class and 45 minutes to accomplish their assignment using everyday objects. Examples of tasks included creating something that could help an elderly person, inventing a machine that would make life easier, designing an underwater play space, and making a model roller coaster. Students presented their inventions at the end of class. View photos

“Using limited resources, task parties give students the open flexibility to think outside the box and create something truly unique,” said Bebe Alexander, St. Mark’s Campus art instructor. “It’s amazing to see what they come up with!”
