Senior Art Show Juror Names Award Winners
The ESJ annual senior art show opened on April 22. Each year senior students in the AP visual arts programs exhibit a curated collection of their work. This juried show is the culmination of a senior visual arts students’ work.
This year’s juror was Kally Malcom-Bjorklund, an Associate Professor of Art, Photography, University of North Florida. She holds an MFA from New Mexico State University, an A.A.S in commercial photography from Metropolitan Community College and a B.A. in English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her personal work explores place, history and identity. Her images employ a range of photographic processes and move between the studio and the natural world.

The overall winner and winner of the FANS Purchase Award was Mimi Kurlas. Mimi’s ceramics piece will be on display with the FANS collection in the Berg Gallery for the next year. She was awarded a cash prize from FANS at the Fine Arts Award Ceremony on May 6.
“Kally complimented the work that our senior Visual Art students created this year, and was most impressed with the diversity of work shown. Kally found the range of skills that these students have at this level was on par with students at the college level, and the concepts that the students were working with were mature and thoughtful,” said Katie Black-Bowling ’95, Director of Fine Arts.
