Curriculum Integration in 5th Grade
Integrating curriculum across subjects focuses on making connections for students, allowing them to engage in relevant, meaningful activities that can be connected to real life. Over the summer, fifth grade students read the book “Boy of the Painted Cave” as part of their required reading.
To reinforce their reading, in Social Studies, students participated in discussions about how cavemen used pictures as a means to communicate. In art, students demonstrated their studies by creating their own cave drawings meant to communicate a message.
