Fine Arts Hosts Guest Artists Ashley Weldon and Chrys Rowe 

Fine Arts recently welcomed two guest artists to campus.

On Thursday, September 16, Episcopal’s Technical Theatre department hosted a workshop on “Stage Managing a Musical, ” presented by Ashley Weldon. Ashley is an accomplished stage manager who currently serves as the Event Coordinator at Florida State College at Jacksonville’s Wilson Center for the Arts and as the Associate Producer for FSCJ’s Summer Musical Theatre Experience. Ashley also stage manages extensively in the Jacksonville area, Her credits include Disney’s Newsies (SMTE), Company (5 & Dime), Les Misérables (Theatre Jacksonville), Amadeus (Jacksonville Symphony), and Next to Normal (Players by the Sea).

On Monday, September 23, Chrys Rowe of Music Rowe Studios spoke with choral students. Chrys is a classical vocal coach and she also works with many other types of vocal performance, including working with students who are very serious about pursuing a commercial musical career. Chrys is a vocal producer and works with students on their specific area of interest, including singing/songwriting, artist development, and work stage performing. Chrys has had students sign record deals, work with Grammy- award-winning producers and win several musical competitions including Jacksonville’s First Coast Star, Southside Idol, Miss Florida’s Most Distinguished Teen, first for the state of Florida in Federation in many categories, and many more. Chrys offered her insights to Epsicopal students on the many ways their vocal skills can be used beyond a traditional classical style of performance.

FANS (Fine Arts Nurturing Students) generously provides funds to each arts discipline to invite guest lecturers to campus in order to enrich students’ Fine Arts education.
