Flu and Cold Season is Here – Remaining Healthy and When to Keep Child Home
Flu season is upon us in full force. Here are some reminders of when you should keep your child home to help our students remain healthy and prevent the spread of disease or infection to others:
- Temperature of 100 degrees or greater. Students should be fever free for at least 24 hours AND not taking fever-reducing medication to control symptoms before returning to school.
- Heavy, moist productive cough or chest congestion. Students must have a non-productive cough for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
- A diagnosis of strep infection. Students will need to be on an antibiotic for at least 24 hours and be fever free before returning to school.
- Diagnosed pink eye. Students must be on an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
With your help, we can reduce the number of students who become ill and keep our community healthy!
