Tracking Community Service

Parents of Upper School students,

Service and community involvement are very important aspects in the formation of our students at Episcopal. In order to more efficiently find new opportunities and to help match students with their interests and talents, we have implemented a new platform called Helper Helper. All students in the classes of 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 have now had an initial training session. From now on, Upper School students will use Helper Helper to view community service opportunities, commit to opportunities, record past service experiences, and track their service hours.

Helper Helper is a customized smartphone application that each student should have downloaded. It may also be downloaded onto an iPad, though you must look for ā€œphone appsā€ for it to appear in the app store. Helper Helper will make it easy, efficient, (and fun) for them to view, commit to opportunities, and track the community service hours they complete. As students electronically record and keep track of their service hours, they can immediately see how they are progressing towards – or past – the 100 service hour graduation requirement (75 hours or more must be community service hours). Students will use their school email and password for the Helper Helper app. If they have not already downloaded the app, please encourage them to do so. Summer service hours can be recorded!

Service is a fundamental component of the student experience at ESJ. We know that service encourages personal growth and has many benefits to our health and well being. We hope that studentsā€™ service at ESJ begins a lifetime of service to others.

If you would like to learn more about the program your student will be using, please go to www.helperhelper.us. We look forward to using this app to more efficiently communicate service opportunities, sign up for these opportunities, and to view and manage studentsā€™ service hours.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.
