Honors Theatre Students Present Audition Portfolios
Honors Theatre 3 and 4 students recently had the opportunity to perform for a jury of Jacksonville’s theatre elite.
The panel included JaMario Stills, Founder and Artistic Director of Phase Eight Theatre Company; Lee Hamby, Managing Director for The 5 and Dime, A Theatre Company; Beth Harvey, Director of FSCJ’s Wilson Center for Arts and Executive Producer of the Summer Musical Theatre Experience; Barbara Colaciello, Artistic Director of BABS’LAB; Erik DeCicco, Artist in Residence at Jacksonville University; and Ron Shreve, Education Director of Theatre Jacksonville.
Students presented their audition portfolios of both contrasting monologues and solo musicals and were given expert feedback.
Hayden Ginder ’18, said “I thought it went really well for everyone. It was a good learning experience and I enjoyed it.”
Many of the students are planning to pursue theatre at the next level and feedback from area professionals is invaluable to their experience.
“I had a wonderful time yesterday. Your students are incredibly impressive and truly have amazing foundations to stand on. Aside from their talent their personalities were very warm and inviting,” said Ron Shreve, Education Director of Theatre Jacksonville.
“Auditions are similar to job interviews and presentations,” said Taylor Horne ’00, Upper School Theatre Director and Performing Arts Department Chair. “The skills gained from this experience will benefit them no matter their endeavors.”
