Global Community Day – Refugees: The Human Stories

On Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 1:10 – 3:20 p.m., Episcopal students will take part in Global Community Day. This year, students will hear the human story of the refugee crisis. Our keynote speaker, Basma Alawee, is a refugee from Iraq. She had to leave a good career as a materials engineer, leave her home and family, to escape war and danger. Refugees from Sudan, Turkey, Colombia, and elsewhere will also be on campus during multiple breakout sessions to tell their stories. Agencies such as Lutheran Social Services will also be on hand to discuss the work they are doing to help refugees that have fled to our country.
