Veteran Teacher Spotlight: Mr. Andrew Deskins

Mr. Andrew Deskins is a well-respected teacher at Episcopal School of Jacksonville. Students frequently seek him out because of his vast theological knowledge and because of his entertaining sense of humor. As one would suspect, interviewing this veteran teacher was a true pleasure.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant, and what is your favorite meal there?
A: “Art’s is my favorite restaurant, and my favorite meal is the ‘trailer trash special’, which consists of pulled pork and fried shrimp.”
Q: What are your hobbies outside of school?
A: “I fly fish and ride my motorcycle, when I can, and I’m a part-time bounty hunter.”
Q: What is your favorite sport, and who’s your favorite sports team?
A: “My favorite sport is full-contact croquet. My favorite sports team is the Saskatchewan Roughriders.”
Q: If you could be anything other than a teacher, what would you be?
A: “I would be a trophy husband.”
Q: What’s your favorite movie and why?
A: “I don’t have a favorite movie, but it depends on the mood I’m in. If I’m in an adventure mood, Captain America Civil War is my favorite. If I’m in a drama mood, The Green Mile is my go-to film, and if I’m in a western mood, Big Jake consistently wins out because John Wayne is the coolest guy in the history of the world.”
Q: Do you have any pets?
A: “I have three rats in my attic at home.”
