Latin Students Excel on National Exam

On March 15, the Ides of March, the National Latin Exam (NLE) was administered to Episcopal\'s Latin students. This 40-question multiple-choice test gives each student the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of Latin grammar and vocabulary, mythology, and Roman history and culture as well as their interest in academic excellence and effort. Episcopal\'s Latin students performed admirably on this test. Of the 84 students who took the test, 33 earned rewards. Five students earned a gold medal summa cum laude. Nine students earned silver medals maxima cum laude. Three students earned magna cum laude honors, and eleven earned cum laude honors. Five students earned certificates of merit. The rigor and quality of the NLE is recognized throughout the country and world. This year, over 143,000 students took the test in all 50 states and 24 foreign countries, including Australia, China, Ghana, Italy, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and Zimbabwe.
