Middle School Variety Show
Students in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades performed at the end of September in the Middle School Variety show. Due to Hurricane Irma, so many rehearsals were missed or cur short. But these students rose above the challenges and soared as Eagles always do!
Dance students performed two pieces in the show, a contemporary piece that was informed by the storm utilizing recorded narration set to a soundscape and it was breathtaking. Additionally, a tap ensemble performed a complicated and crowd pleasing piece set by new dance teacher Tess Sturgeon ’08.
Theatre students performed scenes from the plays 13 Ways to Fail a College Interview, Ten and Two, and even a monologue from Macbeth by Max Moorehead ’23. Their level of commitment to their characters and their depth of understanding was commendable.
The munchkin scene and song from the upcoming production of The Wiz was a highlight and a great way to begin to get excited about the upcoming all school musical. Two Middle School music students performed a duet of Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
It was a run of three wonderful nights in the Sikes Theatre. Way to Go Middle School Performers!
