Second Grade Bike Rodeo Teaches Bicycle Safety, Riding Techniques
Second grade students earned bike licenses last week following the Second Grade Bike Rodeo, a long-standing tradition on the St. Mark’s Campus. The morning began with Tucker Cycles conducting safety checks on all student bikes. Students then attended a safety briefing from JSO Bike Squad. To implement what they learned, everyone rotated through a series of obstacle courses to practice hand signaling, stopping at an intersection, coming to a complete stop, weaving around obstacles in the road, and more!
“Once in third grade, students are allowed to ride their bikes to and from school,” said Beville Anderson, Head of Lower School, St. Mark’s Campus. “After this successful Bike Rodeo, they are licensed and ready!”
Thanks to Tucker Cycles, The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Bike Squad, parent volunteers, and Mrs. Middlekauff, Second Grade Teacher, for making this milestone event possible.
